For its third round, the world motocross championship moved to Italy on 29 April. The circuit located on the Adriatic coast welcomed 17,000 spectators in pleasant spring sunshine. In MX1, team Suzuki Rockstar Energy, supported technically by Motul, confirmed its good results of the beginning of the season with the Suzuki RMZ-450s. In effect, Clément Desalle climbed the third step of the podium despite a collision with David Philippaerts which made him lose time in the second moto. Meanwhile, Tanel Leok finished tenth. However the Belgian rider admitted some disappointment, stating: 'I found the circuit difficult, especially if I make a comparison with 2010 when I won the race. I constantly had the impression I was about to make a big mistake. I must continue to work because I know I've got what it takes.'
His team-mate, Tanel Leok, has not yet reached 100% of his capacities, still suffering from his leg and ankle injury. However he felt more confident at the end of the Fermo events, which is positive for the future: 'I rode well during the first race, but the second was difficult, I committed mistakes and lost speed. But I'm more and more confident in the bike.'
In MX2, Motul supported technically team Standing Construct. Nikolaj Larsen clinched 10th place in race one and 15th in race two, on his Suzuki RMZ-250.
For the next round, the teams will cross the Atlantic and meet in Queretaro, Mexico, on 13 May.
