Motul signs partnership with Polaris Factory Team for Dakar 2021

Dakar 2021 is fast approaching (3rd-15th January) and the world’s toughest rally raid will see MOTUL’s full involvement for the fourth consecutive year as a major partner. But what is a motorsport event without its competitors, and how far can competitors go without their specialist technical partners? MOTUL is very pleased to announce it will be supporting Polaris, which is entering its factory race team for the first time ever in the Dakar. The Polaris RZR Factory Racing Team will be comprised of three BAJA champions including Wayne Matlock, Kristen Matlock and Craig Scanlon, and the all-American squad will be entering three all-new 2021 Polaris RZR Pro XP machines in the SSV class.

Synergy in action

As the global leader in powersports, Polaris Inc. has been making high quality, pioneering powersports products for the last six decades. Whether it’s with snowmobiles, ATVs, or 3-wheel moto-roadsters, their aim is to get people outdoors, exploring and living their passion.  The synergies with MOTUL’s core values are endless, passion, ingenuity performance to name but three!

Through its long involvement in the Dakar, MOTUL has already been part of Polaris’ history in the world-famous rally raid event with the six-time Dakar-winning Polaris Xtreme Plus team, so the step forward to a first ever full factory team endeavour was a natural one to take together.

Polaris, products and performance

Starting on 3rd January 2021 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, The Polaris RZR Factory Racing Team entries will face thousands of kilometres of route, 75% of which will be over sand. Husband and wife duo, Wayne and Kristen Matlock, and Craig Scanlon will each be racing at Dakar in their own RZR vehicles. Despite their vast experience and success in the USA’s off-road BAJA events, all three will be Dakar Rookies so the learning curve will be steep. The advice and coaching of their team manager, a 25-year Dakar man, will be indispensable, as will the technical support and products they use.

Flawless navigation, performance management and driving skills will all be key to success, and Motul’s engine and transmission oils will play a crucial role. For reliability, performance and durability, the 300V Factory Line Range and the Motul Gear Competition 75-W140, specially formulated with exclusive ESTER Core® technology for maximum power in racing conditions, are the lubricants of choice.

MOTUL will be alongside Polaris the whole way, offering the same high quality, high performing products and technical support that so many past winners have profited from, including  the benefit of daily lubricant analysis at the Motul Racing Lab to study the evolution of the oil after each stage of the most gruelling rally of them all, The Dakar.
