MOTUL redesigns its motorcycle range with the new NGEN Core™ technology
With the new NGEN Core™ technology label, MOTUL brands products that are formulated with reprocessed base oils.
NGEN Core™ combines performance and sustainability.
NGEN Core™ products will be launched in the motorcycle segment from 2026 and will gradually be expanded to all product lines.
Cologne, Milan, November 5, 2025 — MOTUL is once again a pioneer in lubricant technologies: The company is initially launching NGEN Core™ for the motorcycle market. The new technology based on reprocessed base oils (RRRBO) combines high performance with greater sustainability. NGEN Core™ gives motorcyclists an optimal riding experience without sacrificing performance and has a lower impact on the environment during production.
“MOTUL has set new standards over the course of its history. We have always lived up to our reputation for understanding important technological developments, driving innovations and implementing them together with our partners. With NGEN Core™, we are now going one step further: We are making sustainability a natural part of performance. This reflects our commitment to combine innovation, responsibility and technical excellence — values that have shaped our identity for more than 170 years,” said Olivier Montange, President of the Management Board of MOTUL.
As an innovative company, Motul added the circular economy to its product range in 2023 — first in the motorcycle segment with NGEN 5 and NGEN 7, then in the automotive sector with NGEN 6, NGEN 4 and NGEN Hybrid. Encouraged by these product launches, MOTUL is now strengthening its commitment to sustainability plus high performance through NGEN Core™ technology. It will be gradually introduced in all MOTUL engine oil product lines from 2026. The motorcycle segment is starting again: The first NGEN Core™ products will be available in the motorcycle series with MCO 4T lubricants 5100, 5000 and 3000 from next year.
“MOTUL was a pioneer in integrating reprocessed base oils into its formulations and is still the only provider today to implement this approach across all of its product lines. With the introduction of NGEN Core™ technology, we are reinforcing this pioneering role by making sustainable performance concrete and accessible to all our users,” said Romain Fabre, Chief Marketing Officer at MOTUL.
Innovation at the service of performance
The oils used in NGEN Core™ formulations are derived from high-quality used oils that are reprocessed through processes such as hydrotreating and vacuum distillation. These techniques ensure purity and performance suitability that matches or even exceeds those of new base oils — but with a significantly reduced “carbon footprint” in production.
NGEN Core™ meets the latest industry standards, including API SP and JASO MA2. These lubricants are tested under extreme conditions and stand for uncompromising performance.
A concrete lever for decarbonization
“The new NGEN Core™ technology label is an important milestone on MOTUL's strategic roadmap. We combine performance with sustainability and thus offer our partners and end customers a convincing and future-oriented offer,” adds Dmitry Bakumenko, Managing Director of MOTUL Germany.
With the same output, reprocessed base oils (RRBO) reduce CO2 emissions by 40 percent compared to new base oils. In addition to the formulation, NGEN Core™ products are packaged in bottles made from 50 percent recycled plastic (PCR), which will increase to 75 percent by 2027.
