The community wishes — Motul delivers: KART GRAND PRIX 2T is back on the market
Cologne, July 2026 —The community has so much influence on Motul's product design: The company is responding to a frequently expressed request from racing fans and reintroduces a popular product. KART GRAND PRIX 2T motor oil is now available again. It was developed precisely to meet the special requirements of mixed lubrication for two-stroke engines in kart racing and is characterized by particularly high speed stability.
Two-stroke engines in racing: Special challenges
Kart racing is considered one of the most important entry-level classes in professional motorsport. The cornering behavior and the focus of the flat, lightweight speedsters were good preparation for their careers for many later Formula One drivers. However, kart racing is very special when it comes to engine technology. In many kart classes, two-stroke engines are common, which do not have a classic oil circuit. The engine oil is added to the fuel in a coordinated ratio. It lubricates the engine components and is used up during operation; this is also known as “loss of lubrication”. “There are several challenges with this mixed lubrication,” says Philipp Miks, who is responsible for product management at Motul: “The oil in the mixture must lubricate well over the entire engine load range, cool and should burn as free of residue as possible without polluting the combustion chamber with residues and limiting performance. In addition, emissions should be as low as possible. ”

Motul protects against wear, even at high speeds
KART GRAND PRIX 2T does just that: Motul developed the high-performance ester-based engine oil specifically for karting. Depending on the specifications of manufacturers or tuners and depending on the engine capacity class, between four percent (at 100 cc) and six percent (at 125 cc) is added to the fuel and supplies the engine with an extremely durable lubricating film even with high-speed engines up to 23,000 rpm. With these properties and homologated by CIK-FIA, the Motul product is recommended for competitive karts with high-performance engines from manufacturers such as Rotax, ATK, Aprilia, PCR, Yamaha, Ital System, or TM.
With Motul KART GRAND PRIX 2T, high-performance lubrication of all engine components can be achieved for two-stroke engines in kart racing. Thanks to its excellent adhesive properties on all metal surfaces, it provides excellent protection against friction and wear — with the result that the operating temperature drops, which increases performance, particularly in the upper speed range.
