Meteoric Gajser takes Motul to another MXGP Championship !

It has been almost impossible to read about Tim Gajser this year without seeing words such as victorious, dominant, excellent and perfection.  But they are fully deserved! Today, the Motul-supported Team HRC’s Slovenian star crossed the finish line for the final time in the 2020 MXGP championship and claimed his fourth World Championship title - a fine reward for his incredible performances all year. Everyone at Motul sends many warm congratulations to Tim and to the whole HRC Team.

As a mark of his dominance in 2020, 'Tiga 243' Gajser won the MXGP class of the FIM World Motocross Championship by over 80 points from his nearest rival. His record-breaking season included an incredible series of victories, and his Honda CRF450RW was, of course, lubricated by Motul using the competition-dedicated 300V Factory Line Off Road 5W40 amongst other products from the range which are used to maintain the bikes and riders’ equipment.

The 2020 roll call of successes is the latest in a magical few years for ‘Tiga’ with Honda, with his first MX2 world crown being collected in 2015 at the young age of just 19.  One year later, he claimed his first MXGP world championship, a feat repeated in 2019, and now again in what has been an extra-ordinary year for so many reasons – not least the five-month break between rounds 2 and 3 due to COVID-19.

HRC Team is the factory Honda outfit in MXGP, and Motul has been a partner to the squad since 2015. After more than 20 years away from the sport, the HRC name reappeared in 2014 with an ambitious plan – to win the MXGP World Championship in three years.

Key to this goal were Honda’s technical partners and, thanks to a long-standing and highly successful motorsport relationship with Honda and HRC, Motul was the only name in the frame to supply oils and grease to the team. HRC reached its goal in just two years instead of three, and the relationship between the two companies has never been stronger.

Marcus Pereira De Freitas, HRC General Manager - MXGP: “What an amazing accomplishment by Tim! To win back-to-back titles is extremely difficult to do, and he fully deserves all the accolades he receives. With everything that has happened this year, it has been tough to maintain such a high level of performance, but everyone in Team HRC has done such a great job and I couldn’t be prouder of the efforts that they have put in. For Tim, this is his fourth world title and he is now the most successful Honda rider in history, but he doesn’t let all the fame affect him and he is still an absolute pleasure to work with. Congratulations Tim! Also, I’d like to say a big thanks to all our sponsors who worked with us this year to achieve this goal. It’s been one of the most difficult seasons to plan for and yet everybody has been brilliant and we couldn’t have done it without all that support. Well done everyone for such a great year! “
