MOTUL TEAMS UP WITH THE JEKILL AND HYDE COMPANY

20.10.2020

Always looking to the future and expanding its horizons, MOTUL has teamed up with The Jekill and Hyde Company on Project 21, a new exhaust for Harley-Davidson bikes aimed at giving motorcyclists the ultimate riding experience…and sound!

MOTUL TEAMS UP WITH THE JEKILL AND HYDE COMPANY

Dr. Jekill & Mr. Hyde

For those not familiar with the name, The Jekill & Hyde is a Dutch-based exhaust manufacturer specialising in an electronically adjustable exhaust system that allows the rider to choose between three different acoustic modes. Developed by engineers with an unlimited passion for engines, tailor-made exhausts are created with a unique sound for each engine. Totally in line with MOTUL’s philosophy of by riders, for riders, it’s a perfect match.

Cooperation with Motul

The Jekill and Hyde Company was looking for something extra to give their customers and dealers in addition to the ultimate adjustable exhaust and the idea of a premium cleaning set was born. Several brands were tested, but there was clearly one brand that turned out to be everyone's preference….MOTUL of course!

Project 21

At the same time, Dr. Jekill & Mr. Hyde embarked on Project 21, an electronically controlled 2-into-1 exhaust for Harley-Davidson Milwaukee-Eight Softail models with an emphasis on performance.  There was naturally only one company to turn to for premium, performance lubricants.  Among the models being built is a completely new custom bike, a Harley-Davidson Low Rider S, with phenomenal looks, performance, handling and power being the key watchwords.  Using all its experience and expertise in this field, MOTUL was happy to commit to this project and, thanks to our oil and lubricants, the custom bike has become a real performance beast. Have a look here!

Geert Valckx, CEO of Jekill & Hyde, commented:  “We consider ourselves a top-of-the-line brand and we like to be associated with brands who have a similar value in their field. Motul has been an interesting partner because of its general involvement in the industry as well as racing, but especially because it’s bold enough to broaden its horizons and learn all about our world.”

It started with a cleaning kit, but soon more projects and ideas started rolling out. Both MOTUL and The Jekill and Hyde Company are therefore looking forward to further collaborations on new and interesting projects.

ABOUT JEKILL UND HYDE

Dr. Jekill & Mr. Hyde | The Exhaust offers a completely street legal, beautifully designed exhaust. This is a result of German engineering and Dutch craftsmanship with state of the art technology, perfectly crafted by the best engineers in town. With computer simulations, the building of prototypes and extensive testing, we’ve created a tailor made exhaust for each and every bike. By riders, for riders. Our brand name Dr. Jekill & Mr. Hyde | The Exhaust is based on the 1886 novel “The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde”. It tells the tale of Dr. Henry Jekyll, a gentle and well-mannered doctor, living in Victorian London. He has a particular fascination with good and evil in human nature and starts to do various experiments. As a result he transforms into Mr. Edward Hyde; a vile and demonic persona that is the embodiment of evil.

It is only by using a special potion that he can control his horrible alter-ego and return to being Dr. Henry Jekyll. Just like the novel’s main protagonist, our exhaust systems have two (actually three) distinct personalities. But unlike in the novel, the Mr. Hyde in our exhaust systems is easily tamed; by a simple touch of a button, you can switch it on and off.
