MOTUL NAMED OFFICIAL PARTNER OF RADWOOD

Cypress, Calif. (July 9, 2021) – Motul, the French oil company founded in 1853, has joined RADwood as an Official Partner for the 2021 show season. RADwood events highlight cars from the post-emissions, pre-digital decades and celebrate the lifestyles and fashions of the 1980s and 1990s. Motul will help kick off RADwood’s 2021 return at RADwood NorCal, held at the San Mateo County Event Center in San Mateo, CA on July 10, 2021.

“Like RADwood, Motul celebrates the unique cars of the ‘80s and ‘90s that encapsulate the vibrant cultures and aesthetics of those decades,” said RADwood co-founder Art Cervantes. “Motul’s premium motor oils and new Modern Classic products are a perfect match for RADwood as they help keep these cars on the road.”

The French lubricant company has been a dedicated steward of collector vehicles since the early 1970s; in 2010, Motul became a Global Partner of FIVA (the International Federation of Vintage Vehicles), and in 2019, it went onto become the Official Lubricant Partner of the Goodwood Revival, further solidifying its commitment to historic cars. As “rad” era vehicles achieve collector car status, Motul has dedicated itself to keeping them properly lubricated with advanced technologies and specialized formulas for modern classic rides.

MOTUL NAMED OFFICIAL PARTNER OF RADWOOD

“We love events like RADwood that highlight the unique proclivities of collectors,” said Motul USA Brand Manager Nolan Browning. “The growing popularity of RADwood was the impetus behind our new Modern Classic formulas, which are the first to market specifically for ‘80s and ‘90s cars. A partnership with RADwood was only natural, and we couldn’t be more excited to attend events during the 2021 show season as an Official Partner of the organization.”

When developing its Modern Classic lubricants, Motul received feedback from owners at RADwood events to ensure the oils met the needs of collectors. Motul formulated Modern Classic Eighties 10W40 for forced-induction engines common to the decade and specialized Modern Classic Nineties 10W30 for high-revving engines with more modern valvetrains. Both oils are the first ‘80s and ‘90s specific lubricants to offer an additive package with high-zinc (ZDDP) and molybdenum (moly) content for reduced friction and increased power.

The synthetic base oils, adapted detergent levels and advanced additives of each Modern Classic formula are designed to work with the metals and gasket materials common to each decade while meeting or exceeding period API standards. Modern Classic oils’ high-adhesion characteristics also provide for excellent cold flow properties to prevent engine wear during start-ups and to coat and protect engine internals during storage. Both Modern Classic oils come in vintage style metal cans with unique packaging to look at home in any “rad” garage.

Throughout the years, Motul has continued to push new technological development for the cars of yesteryear, supporting even the most niche collectors with high-quality lubricants and specialized products for their cars. Motul’s partnership with RADwood will assist in the development of advanced products and is yet another pledge of support to the car collecting community.
