THE TT CLASSIC, A TEST OF NERVES AND SPEED THAT MAY BE SPORT'S MOST DANGEROUS EVENT

30.08.2018

The famous Isle of Man TT race is often called the most dangerous motorcycle race in the world. The road race, which originated in 1907, has been held on the Snaefell Mountain Course since 1911 on the Isle of Man, which lies in the Irish Sea between Ireland and Britain.

The Sports Illustrated writer Franz Lidz once described the spectacle as "38 Miles of Terror... a test of nerves and speed that may be sport's most dangerous event."

The Isle of Man TT in June is ridden on modern racing bikes on a closed road circuit. Due to its huge success and growing interest in vintage and classic racing motorcycles, the organization launched the TT Classic in 1989. The event has gradually grown from a sidekick event to today’s mature Classic event, where the island’s rich Motorsport heritage relives its second youth. During the last weekend of August, the Isle of Man Department of Tourism organized the Isle of Man TT Classic Race.

As a partner for the event, Motul provides product and technical support to several teams. Team Classic Suzuki is one of them, deploying Danny Web on an RG500 Mk10 and Phil Crowe, who will be riding an XR69 – two riders who have already proven themselves in the TT. The York Suzuki team, which has had several successes in previous years, is also supported by Motul. The team lined up the famous Australian rider David Johnson, accompanied by Gary Johnson, two times winner of the TT in the Supersport Junior category.
