MayMaan Energy Solutions and Motul have signed a global exclusive supply partnership for AquaStroke® eco-friendly engines, which run with a mixture of 70% water and 30% bioalcohol.
Motul has developed a specialized high-performance lubricant that is essential for the steam combustion process used in this technology and is a prerequisite for the engine warranty.
This partnership aims to provide a clean and reliable energy solution to meet growing global needs, particularly in data centers and for charging infrastructure.
Aubervilliers (France) and Hollywood (Florida, USA), September 3rd, 2026 - MayMaan Energy Solutions, the clean-energy technology company behind AquaStroke® engines powered by a patented 70% water and 30% bio-alcohol fuel blend, and Motul, the global leader in high-performance lubricants, today announced an exclusive supplier partnership. Under the agreement, Motul will exclusively supply the approved lubricant for the AquaStroke® platform, covering factory fill, engine conversions, and aftermarket service worldwide. Only jointly approved Motul lubricants qualify for use under MayMaan's engine warranty.
Powering the next generation of energy infrastructure
Global electricity demand is accelerating, driven by AI, cloud computing, electrification, and the rapid expansion of data centers. AquaStroke® is designed as a scalable power platform that can be deployed from distributed backup systems to multi-megawatt installations, delivering cleaner, quieter, and lower-cost power using MayMaan's patented 70/30 water-fuel blend.
Why a dedicated oil, and why Motul
AquaStroke® operates unlike any conventional engine. Its patented technology generates power from steam produced by a 70% water / 30% ethanol or methanol fuel blend, delivering cool combustion with effectively no NOx and no diesel particulates. This unique water-bearing combustion environment requires a purpose-engineered lubricant that provides superior water management, corrosion protection, emulsion resistance, and long-term stability.
Motul has developed a dedicated high-performance lubricant with MayMaan specifically for the AquaStroke® platform. Backed by more than 170 years of innovation, Motul brings the performance and reliability demanded by mission-critical power systems.
A standard that customers can rely on
The approved-specification model follows Motul's long-established approach of developing proprietary lubricants with leading OEMs across automotive, heavy-duty, marine, agriculture, and powersports markets. Combined with Motul's global distribution network, operators receive a consistent, quality-assured lubricant standard wherever AquaStroke® systems are deployed. Use of non-approved oils falls outside the terms of the warranty.
The companies will also continue working together on research and development, using field data to further optimize lubricant performance as the AquaStroke® platform expands.
A platform built for the future
MayMaan’s technology targets the fastest-growing gaps in global power. Its core offerings include generators, EV charging stations, and power-generation systems, with key applications across data centers, off-grid power, electric-vehicle infrastructure, and backup power. Generator sets are currently offered at 20, 35, and 120 kW in single- or three-phase configurations, built on retrofitted 1.5 L, 2.0 L, and 6.6 L engines, and the gensets are suited to residential and commercial backup, peak shaving, and Level 2 off-grid EV charging. The company’s A35® unit delivers industrial-grade power on the 70/30 water-ethanol blend, positioned as a cleaner, quieter, and more efficient alternative to diesel.
MayMaan’s model is not to become an engine manufacturer. The company operates on a contract-manufacturing and licensing basis, working with engine manufacturers and generator packagers who license, manufacture, and warranty the technology for end users. An exclusive, globally distributed approved oil is a natural complement to that model, giving every licensee and integrator a single, consistent lubricant standard.
Momentum in Europe
The partnership comes as MayMaan expands across Europe to address growing grid-congestion challenges. In the Netherlands alone, congestion-management costs are projected to increase from €1.7 billion in 2024 to €4.7 billion by 2030. AquaStroke® Europe will introduce standby generators, industrial power systems, and integrated fast-charging solutions designed to support cleaner distributed power. The platform also eliminates the need for conventional diesel after-treatment systems such as particulate filters and urea-based additives, making a purpose-designed lubricant an essential part of the complete solution.
« A dedicated, approved oil isn't optional - it's the engineering standard that protects our customers' engines and preserves peak performance over the long run. » Doron Shmueli, CEO, MayMaan.
« Motul is driven by a clear ambition to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions across the entire energy ecosystem, grounded in shared values with our partner MayMann of performance, reliability, and innovation. Fully aligned with our decarbonization strategy, the AquaStroke® technology addresses key challenges such as powering data centers, decarbonizing power units in ports, and accelerating the deployment of flexible, zero-emission generation solutions to support the energy transition », added Christophe Lacroix, PhD, Chief Innovation & Sustainability Officer, Motul.
