The fourteenth round of the World MotoGP Championship took place at the Motorland Aragón ultramodern track in Spain on 18 September.
Wishing to shine at home in front of his public, Alvaro Bautista again gave a superb performance. Eleventh on the starting grid and after avoiding a collision in the first bend, the Spaniard very soon managed to catch up with his closest contenders and was already in 8th place by the end of the first lap. A little later in the race Alvaro made magnificent passing manoeuvres getting ahead of Hector Barbera and also Nicky Hayden and finally crossed the arrival line in 6th place.
As for Hervé Poncharal's men (Team Monster Tech3), Colin Edwards took 13ème place. Ninth under the chequered flag, Cal Crutchlow for his part went as far as winning his duel against nine-times world champion Valentino Rossi!
But this isn't the only achievement of the weekend for team Monster Tech3, as the signature of a 3 year contract between Bradley Smith and the French team was officially announced. One of the main contenders of the Moto2 World Championship, the young Brit will therefore pursue his career in this same Championship next year with team Tech3 Racing before taking part in the MotoGP top category in 2012!
The Motul teams as well as the other teams will now fly to Asia where they will fight out the next three events before returning to Spain on 6 November for the final.
