By signing a technical partnership agreement with team Bamboo Engineering, Motul has also made its entry into a new world championship, the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC).
Comprising twelve events taking place in three continents, the WTCC is broadcast in some 160 countries for the greatest pleasure of 470 million fans watching worldwide.
Contending in the championship since 2010, team Bamboo has two drivers. Chinese man Daryl O’Young is the first. After starting his career in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia, Daryl joined team Bamboo last year. After highly successful beginnings, which saw him take three wins (independents class) in 2010, he is supported in 2011 by Japanese man Yukinori Tanigushi who is also participating in his second WTCC season. Both are lucky to drive the car that won in 2010, namely the Chevrolet Cruze.
As for the results, following the seventh round of the season that took place at Donington Park on 16 and 17 July, Daryl O’Young now ranks 11th in the overall standings and 3rd in the Yokohama Drivers’ Trophy. For his part, Yuke Tanigushi currently ranks 11th of the Yokohama Trophy.
Next race in Germany (Oschersleben) on 30 and 31 July.
