The second round of the Japanese Super GT Championship took place on 4 May at the Fuji circuit, in mixed weather. Alternating dry and rainy periods made strategy difficult for the drivers and teams and the many pit stands to change tyres upturned the standings on several occasions. In this tricky game, team Motul Autech showed good control. Michael Krumm and Satoshi Motoyama managed to keep 4th place for a good part of the race until the 83rd lap when Krumm gave the wheel to Motoyama. As rain started to fall again, several drivers stopped to fit suitable tyres but Motoyama, with rare control, continued his race without any pit stop. He thus managed to secure 3rd place, allowing the team to clinch its first podium of the season! 'The GT-R showed excellent performances throughout the event, stated Yutaka Suzuki, team manager. Motoyama and Michael both gave an excellent race and kept up their performance when the conditions became difficult, managing to stay among the leading group.' For the teams supported by Motul, note should also be taken of the 9th and 12th places in GT500 of the Honda of team Weider and of the Lexus of KeePer Kraft respectively as well as, in GT300, of the 9th place of the new Subaru BRZ and the 18th place of the Nissan GT-R of SRoad NDDP.
The next event is scheduled in Sepang on 9 and 10 June.
