Michel Fabrizio, rider of Team Suzuki Altare, was on the starting grid of round eight of the World Superbike Championship on 9 and 10 July at the Brno circuit. Despite his recent injuries and intense pain in the right foot (a pain-killing injection was given between the two races), the Italian rider crossed the chequered flag of races 1 and 2 in fourth place.
In front of more than 65,000 fans, Marco Melandri (Yamaha) and Max Biaggi (Aprilia) shared the victory spoils. A podium was of course within reach of Michel Fabrizio, although as he was not 100% fit he could not vie with the top three. 'I was happy with the set-up of my bike and enjoyed the two races. We made a small adjustment for race 2 to make the grip even better. However, once the front three had pulled out a gap, I found it difficult to catch them. But all in all, I'm pretty happy with the weekend's results', he said after race 2.
Next round at Silverstone on 31 July.
