After a nightmarish weekend a fortnight ago in Zolder for the two teams entering Nissans (Sumo Power GT and JR Motorsport), the third meeting of the World GT Championship which took place last weekend in Portimao (Portugal) proved far more fruitful: with a hat trick in race 1 and a win in race 2, the least that can be said is that the domination of the GT-Rs supported technically by Motul & Nismo was total!
The qualifier, which took place on Saturday, saw a fine double by team JR Motorsport (Westbrook-Dumbreck and Krumm-Luhr) ahead of one of the cars of Sumo Power GT (Campbell Walter-Brabham). The main race on Sunday was to be an identical recital, unfortunately amputated in the last laps of its main performer, Dumbreck's leading GT-R, which fell prey to mechanical problems. The runners-up of the eve therefore took victory.
Team Hexis AMR experienced, for its part, a podium-less weekend, the best result being 8th place clinched by Hohenadel-Piccini at the Sunday race. The team is nevertheless still keeping the reins of the championship!
1// Hexis AMR (Aston Martin – 73 pts) - Motul
2// All Ink Münich Motorsport (Lambo – 72 pts)
3// JR Motorsport (Nissan – 72 pts) - Motul
