The first Ten Thousand Laps at the Le Castellet track, in October 2010, marked the advent of a major car enthusiasts' event. First success and not the least, the grid brought together more than 220 collectors' cars making the Ten Thousand Laps one of Europe's finest classic meets.
After a detour in Spain at the beginning of the season for the first holding of the Ten Thousand Laps of Navarra, team Peter Auto was back on 8 and 9 October at the Paul Ricard High Tech Test Track for the second edition of the Ten Thousand Laps of Le Castellet. Among the line-ups present, connoisseurs could admire Group C Racing, Sixties’Endurance, Trofeo Nastro Rosso, challenge ASAV as well as Classic Endurance Racing for which Motul is one of the partners.
Therefore, after Navarra, Spa, Imola, Silverstone and Estoril, the prototypes and GTs that raced in the greatest endurance races between 1966 and 1979 brought back the glory of the finest hours of motorsport racing during two 60 minute races. In race 1, it was Bernard Thuner who won in his Lola T70 Mk III dating from 1967 followed closely by the duo Sandy Watson / Martin O’Connel (Chevron B19 FVC dating from 1970).
In race 2, after becoming first runner-up in race one, this same duo won at the wheel of their Chevron B 36 BDG dating from 1976.
As the seventh season of the year is now over, the organisers and participants now have their eyes on the 2012 season which, we can rest assured, will be as pleasurable as always!
