After the round in China in mid-September, World FIA GT1 Championship participants had to wait for nearly two months for the season's last round held on 5 and 6 November at the magnificent San Luis track in Argentina. A round that was most eagerly awaited as it was decisive for the award of the 2011 driver's and team's titles
During the qualifying race on Saturday, an end was soon put to the suspense since, by clinching second place, the duo Lucas Luhr / Michael Krumm (JRM Motorsports) succeeded the tandem Bartles / Bertolini by winning the 2011 world champion driver's title. A fine race marked also by the first win of the season for a Corvette C6.R, that of Buurman / Pastorelli (Exim Bank Team).
For the team's title, drivers and teams had to wait for the championship race to know the outcome, with JRM having a 3 point handicap on Young Driver AMR.
Spared from an impressive pile-up at the first turn in the Championship race involving six cars of which five were partially destroyed, team Hexis AMR brilliantly managed by Philippe Dumas pulled off the weekend's finest performance. By placing its two cars in third and fifth position, the French team indeed clinched the so coveted title still up for grabs! This award rewards the extraordinary team work accomplished by the mechanics, drivers and the rest of the staff during the 2011 season.
With two new FIA world champion titles notched up, Motul wishes to congratulate teams JRM Motorsports and Hexis AMR for their confidence. These partner teams brilliantly bore the Motul brand colours at the world's most demanding GT Championship.
