Jake Lewis is already the talk of the town!
Round six of the 2011 WERA National American Championship was held on August 6 at the Virginia International Raceway in the USA. The WERA championship is similar to the AMA (American Motorcycle Association) championship though it is more regional and more amateur.
In addition the event is recognised as being a wonderful opportunity to showcase young talent with intense competition across a number of categories.
There were a number of riders flying the flag for Motul and they all produced brilliant displays thanks in no small part to our technical partnership developed over a number of years with KWS Motorsports!
This specialized motorcycle company is one of the most respected in the business and it was present throughout the day to offer its technical expertise to the riders in conjunction, of course, with Motul.
There was no doubt as to the star of the show in Virginia and that was the young Jake Lewis in his Yamaha R6. Despite being only 15, Lewis has dominated his rivals in the Superbike Expert 750 class riding for Earl's Racing team. His victory in Virginia meant he was crowned 2011 champion even though there are still two rounds of the season remaining. What’s more, Lewis also rode to victory in the Superstock 750 category and he’s still in with a great chance of adding the Superbike and Supersport 600 titles to his growing list of achievements!
In the Open Superbike and Supersport categories, Tim Hunt (Apex Racing) is also in the running for an impressive double . He tops the standing in one by five points and is only five points behind the leader in the other. Two categories in which Luie Zendejas (BMW of San Jose) is aiming more than ever for a podium finish.
