Formula Student - Germany - Hockenheim

The Motul teams did themselves proud

Reserved for engineering school students, the Formula Student is not only a motor-racing event but also an educational project  allowing students to progressively apply the theoretical knowledge acquired at lectures. Therefore, after designing and having built from A to Z their single-seater, teams compete during static tests (design, cost, business plan, safety, technique, tone, etc.) and also dynamic tests (sprint, acceleration, endurance, fuel consumption, etc.).

No less then 103 teams from 25 different countries were attracted by the particularly atypical approach of the Formula Student Germany event (75 teams in the Formula Student Combustion category and 28 in the Formula Student Electric category) held at the Hockenheim circuit from 2 to 7 August.

Among them, the teams of the Moscow State Technical University MAMI (Russia) and of the Ecole Nationale d’ingénieurs de Metz (France) were supported technically by Motul. Having taken 14th place following the first tests, the Russian team could hope for a top 20. However it was forced to abandon because of a faulty wheel hub during the endurance event and finally took 50th place in the final standings, ahead of the French team (61st place).
