Thanks to his win, Brookes takes the championship lead!

28.09.2012

Josh Brookes took the British Superbike (BSB) Championship lead following his very fine performance in Assen at the event on 23 and 24 September, the first of the season outside the United Kingdom. Fighting fit, the Australian rider finished 2nd in race one and took the win in the second, for the greatest pleasure of his team Tyco Suzuki supported technically by Motul. Brookes' battle with Shane Byrne was extremely close and, three rounds from the end of the championship, two tiny points separate the two riders: anything can still happen! Brookes' team-mate, Alastair Seeley, was not as lucky but, in Supersport category, young PJ Jacobsen on his maiden race on the Tyco Suzuki GSX-R600 also took the win in the second race! So team manager, Philip Neil, was therefore particularly pleased, which he was to say after the events: 'What a weekend! The mechanics worked especially hard this weekend to find a set-up to save the tyres throughout the race.' As for Josh Brookes, he commented his success as follows: 'In race two, we found set-ups that gave me good performances and allowed me to follow Shane. I managed to pass him in the last chicane.'

Next meet on 28-30 September at Silverstone.
