Pecom finishes 2nd in LMP2 and Larbre keeps the championship lead in LMGTE-Am

24.09.2012

The 6 Hours of Sao Paulo, on 16 September, were marked by the first LMP1 win of a hybrid Toyota, which undermines the insolent domination of Audis and provides the championship with new interest. In LMP2 category, the team supported technically by Motul did well for themselves and, while ADR-Delta didn't manage to repeat its fine Silverstone performance, Pecom Racing bagged a splendid 2nd place. Having left 9th on the starting grid, Luis Perez Companc, Pierre Kaffer and Nicolas Minassian, on board their Oreca-Nissan, climbed through the ranks steadily and with determination. Greaves Motorsport also obtained a very honourable result by finishing 4th, with Christian Zugel, Elton Julian and championship first-timer Roberto Gonzalez, at the wheel of their Zytek-Nissan.

In LMGTE-Am, Larbre Compétition drove a perfect race, the Corvette of Fernando Rees, Julien Canal and Patrick Bornhauser taking the lead to no longer let it slip. The car was however disqualified at the end of the race by the technical marshals, owing to a problem related to the bodywork height. Jack Leconte's team second Corvette driven by Jean-Philippe Belloc, Pascal Gibon and Christophe Bourret, clinched 3rd place allowing Larbre to keep the championship lead.

Next meet on 29 September, for the 6 Hours of Bahrain.
