MOTUL ready for exciting 24 Hours of Le Mans Moto

03.09.2012

Aubervilliers, 30 August 2012. Europe’s leading company in the field of motorcycle lubricants and lubrication, Motul, is preparing for a second, thrilling 24-hour event at the famous Le Mans circuit in four months:  the 24 Hours of Le Mans Moto.

The endurance motorcycle race on 8-9th September on the Bugatti Circuit Le Mans is the last round of the 2012 FIM Endurance World Championship and Motul is an official partner of the event for the second consecutive year.  This partnership is in addition to the company being the FIM’s official lubricant partner and official partner with the FIM Endurance World Championship.

Motul colours will be carried on 17 of the 56 entries throughout the 3,500 kilometres of racing.  The famous red and white logo will also be displayed around the track on programmes and information leaflets, the 56 grid girls, and, of course, on the famous Le Mans podium.

Amongst the Motul-supported teams are the all-conquering 13-time Champion Suzuki Endurance Racing Team (SERT).  With Vincent Philippe/Anthony Delhalle currently leading the standings by a margin of 19 points, Sarthe-based SERT is closing in fast on its 14th championship.  In a strong position for runner-up, and therefore looking for a good result at Le Mans, is the TT Legends team of legendary TT rider John McGuinness and Donald Cameron.   Other notable names profiting from Motul’s support are the YART Yamaha team and National Moto Honda team.

Motul has enjoyed long-established technical partnerships with many of these teams and is a well- known and respected name in both FIM Endurance and MotoGP World Championships.  The lubricant specialists recognise that the Endurance championship, and the 830+ laps completed in the 24 Hour race in particular, is the ultimate test bench and living laboratory for its motorcycle products and the ideal arena in which to prove the quality and performance of its products.

Motul has benefited from its involvement in the highest echelons of motorcycle racing to develop highly specialised oils specifically to deal with the temperature extremes associated with the high performance engines used in this discipline.  Products which will be used by all the Motul-supported teams entered in the twice-round-the-clock event include the 300V Factory Line, RBF 660 brake fluid and Motul MC Care products.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans Moto, which has been organised by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest since its inception in 1978, is one of the classics of motorcycle racing and over 80,000 spectators are expected to attend.  The hugely popular event is a race of reference for factory teams and privateers, and is also a unique and intense occasion for the enthusiastic spectators; there is nowhere better to experience the combination of passion for motorcycling and a party atmosphere.

In addition to its partnership with the event, Motul will also be sponsoring the Motors TV live transmission of the 24 Hours of Le Mans Moto which will be aired in 38 different European countries, and reach 20 million households.  There will be 25 hours of event coverage for those unable to attend in person.  It promises to be a fantastic spectacle and ambiance.
