MOTUL celebrates double FIM Endurance World Championship successes

10.09.2012

Aubervilliers, 10 September 2012. Following its second place finish at this weekend’s 24 Hours of Le Mans Moto, the Motul-supported, all-conquering Suzuki Endurance Racing Team (SERT) clinched its 12th World Endurance Championship title at its home track in France.  Motul warmly congratulates Team Manager Dominique Meliand, riders Vincent Philippe - Anthony Delhalle - Takuya Tsuda, and all SERT team members for this incredible triumph.

As a long-established company, and one that has always been involved in the cutting edge of motorsport technology, Europe’s leader in the field of hi-tech competition lubricants and lubrication, Motul, is well-placed to value and appreciate such achievement and excellence as demonstrated by SERT.  And the Le Mans-based squad weren’t the only Champions within Motul’s roster of teams to be celebrating this weekend.

In the Superstock category, victory in the 24 Hours Moto went to the Team Louit Moto 33 (Perret –Salchaud - Chevaux) and second place to the Penz13-Kraftwerk-Herpigny Racing Team (Vallcaneras – Pridmore – Vos - Merten) who also claimed the Championship title. The top two podium finishers in Superstock are amongst the 22 teams supported by Motul, and warm congratulations are extended to all of them for their participation in this legendary race.

The FIM’s official lubricant partner and official partner with the FIM Endurance World Championship, Motul has enjoyed a long-established technical partnership with SERT and several other well- known and respected names in the FIM Endurance World Championship.  The lubricant specialists recognise that the Endurance championship, and the 844 laps completed in the 24 Hour race in particular, is the ultimate test bench and living laboratory for its motorcycle products and the ideal arena in which to prove the quality and performance of its products.

The SERT team, riding the 2012 Yoshimura-powered Suzuki GSX-R1000, were a force to be reckoned with throughout the five-race Championship.  A magnificent win in the penultimate round of the Championship at Oschersleben in Germany gave the team a 19-point lead going into Le Mans and, with any of five teams could clinch the series. The race for the title was on, and SERT reigned supreme – delighted to win the title despite failing to win the 24 Hours outright.

Motul has benefited from its involvement in the highest echelons of motorcycle racing to develop highly specialised oils specifically to deal with the temperature extremes associated with the high performance engines used in this discipline.  Products used by all the Motul-supported teams entered in the twice-round-the-clock event included the 300V Factory Line, RBF 660 and Motul MC Care products.
