Motul alongside Nick Mason at the new car fest

13.09.2012

Car Fest is a new event that took place in England in two places: Car Fest South, on 25 and 26 August at Laverstoke Park Farm (an organic form belonging to Jody Scheckter) in Hampshire, and Car Fest North, on 8 and 9 September at Cholmondeley Castle, near Liverpool. In both places it was a tremendous celebration of collectors' and exceptional cars, comprising a hill demonstration, exhibitions, an auction sale and rock concerts (Texas, Proclaimers, Counterfit Stones...), part of the event profits being donated to the Children in Need association. The event was compered by the bubbly radio and television presenter Chris Evans, himself a big auto enthusiast — especially of Ferraris of which he owns several among the finest. Motul participated in the fest alongside Ten Tenths, the company run by Nick Mason, the Pink Floyd drummer and also a great collector: seven of his cars were exhibited at Laverstoke in a tent bearing Motul's colours. In front of some 20,000 visitors, Jody Scheckter participated in the show, taking the wheel of his Ferrari 312 T4, a single-seater of the turbo period that gave him the World Champion title in 1979. As for Nick Mason, he willingly accepted to give his autograph, generating a great crowd on Motul's stand. The event allowed £750,000 to be donated to the association: a performance on a par with those of the cars present!
