Freestyle Motocross (FMX) is the world of Tsunami Flips, Hart Attack Flips and Suicide Lockback Flips, all these being astounding figures executed in the air by young prodigies on their motorcycles. On 20 and 21 January, Linz, a town in Austria known for its delicious cinnamon tasting pie, was the setting of the second round of the UEM Freestyle MX European Championship that took place as part of the Night of the Jumps. There was a fierce battle at the summit between the holders of the European title and the world title, respectively Frenchman Rémi Bizouard and Chilean Javier Villegas, to the advantage of the latter finally.
But Motul took an interest above all in Clinton Moore, the talented Australian rider supported by Link International, Motul's importer in Australia. Clinton was making his come-back to the competition scene after his serious fall in June 2011, a bad shoulder fracture that prevented him from getting back on his motorcycle for six months. "I was becoming crazy at home without riding' remembers Clinton 'I converted the garage into a gym and exercised a lot. (...) I'm very happy to participate in the Linz Night of Jumps, it's a good start before the world championship. I've worked at broadening my range of figures'.
Clinton Moore is the first in the world to have made, in 2010, a Volt Body Varial during an FMX competition, a figure consisting for the rider in spinning 360° around himself above his motorcycle.
In Linz, on the first day, Clinton did a splendid 360° and a Body Varial, but had less luck the following day as he fell doing a 360°. The Australian rider will be back again at the first round of the FIM Freestyle MX World Championship on 1 and 2 March in Turin. Let's hope he's entirely at ease again on his bike!
