French Ice Championship - France - Isola 2000

15.01.2012

Rivière shakes up the hierarchy

Jean-Philippe Dayraut keeps his second place in the overall standings of the Andros Trophy, despite an eventful weekend at Isola 2000 on 6 and 7 January. The leaders were indeed given a somewhat rough time by Benjamin Rivière, a brilliant independent racer from Grenoble who won the weekend's two races while clearly dominating the qualifyings. Dayraut, who drives the Mini of team Saintéloc for which Motul is a partner, came second in the first race of the weekend but, in the second, he could not resist a furiously fast leading pack — including Nicolas Prost, son of Alain — and finished fifth.

In Andros Electrique, Adrien Tambay shone once more. Regular, he won the Isola 2000 meeting ahead of Nicolas Prost thanks to his lap record since the two sons of major champions finished ex aequo. Christophe Ferrier, who was intent on shining in home territory, was to be hindered by some nail problems in the first two races, which has not prevented him from remaining title holder. Next meeting at Lans-en-Vercors, on 13 and 14 January.
