Australian Endurance Championship - Australia - Phillip Island

10.01.2012

A faultless performance for Team Suzuki

By clinching the first two places at the 8 Hours of Phillip Island, which took place in December in Australia, Team Suzuki managed by Phil Tainton and supported by Motul won the title of Australian Endurance Champion 2011.

Victory was bagged by the GSX-R 1000 Superbike of Josh Waters, Troy Herfoss and Robbie Bugden, who rode 279 laps, in other words a total of 1,241 km. The GSX-R 600 Supersport ridden by Brodie Waters, Ben Attard and Mitchell Carr, for its part, came second. The two teams dominated the event from start to finish, beginning by the pole position. Brodie Waters summarises the race as follows: 'We started strong, before getting into a regular pace, which is very important in an endurance event'.  Meanwhile, Phil Tainton emphasised: "We are particularly happy about this collective victory because Endurance is a matter for a whole team, far more so than sprint races.'

Next meeting on 24-26 February for the first round of the 2012 Championship, on the same Phillip Island circuit.
