24 Hours of Dubai - UAE - Dubai

20.01.2012

Motul, partner on and off the track.

The 24 Hours of Dubai, a sunny event in this winter-break for motorsports, chose Motul once gain as official lubricant partner.

Last weekend, in a starting grid with no less than 70 contenders, Mercedes could thank its lucky star by clinching the first three places with its AMG GT3s, the winner covering the distance of 3,384.92 km. Highly present at this meeting, held for the seventh time, Motul was also the technical partner of several teams, including JRM Nissan, winner of the 2011 FIA GT1 Drivers' Championship. The British team seized this opportunity to fine tune the adjustments to the new Nissan GT-R with GT3 specifications. Despite an abandonment due to a mechanical glitch, the car was highly promising, securing a best lap time very close to the event's record. Another particularly noticed Nissan, the 370Z of RJN Motorsport, was between the hands of four GT Academy winners, this being a scheme developed by Nissan to allow video game amateurs to qualify and pass from virtual driving to the real seat in a racecar.  As proof that the idea is a good one, the car finished 26th in the overall standings and third in its SP2 category.

Another team supported by Motul clinched the same third place but in another category: that of  SP3s: the GC 10.2 V8 of GC Automobile, which bagged a 22nd place in the overall standings. Meanwhile at Marcos Racing, the BMW 120d and the Lotus Evora entered by the team finished respectively in 47th and 61st place. Next meeting from 12 to 14 January 2013, which leaves time for the teams to sharpen their tactics.
