MOTUL stays faithful to the magic of the mountain

01.06.2012

Aubervilliers, 30 May 2012. Road racing champions of the past and present are the first to admit there’s something very special about the Isle of Man TT.  They are joined by some of the world’s most illustrious names from industry, technology and sport who are drawn back each year by the mythology, history and excitement of the event.  Amongst those names is Motul, Europe’s leading company in the field of motorcycle lubricants and lubrication, which has for the third consecutive year been named as Official Lubricants Partner to the Isle of Man TT fuelled by Monster Energy, the spiritual home of motorcycles and their riders.

The challenge of the 37.73 mile public road course snaking through the scenic Isle of Man, which lies in the Irish Sea between the North West coast of England and Northern Ireland, captures the imagination and aspirations of competitors, fans and spectators alike.  In the same way, the challenge of pioneering new and improved products consistently draws Motul to the world’s most competitive arenas.

Recognised for more than 150 years for the quality of its products, capacity for innovation and involvement in the field of competition, Motul is involved in all major two-wheel championships from MotoGP to Superbikes to World Endurance and, of course, the TT.  Motul considers the highest levels of competition to be a vital test bench and living laboratory for its products, and its 100% synthetic 300V lubricant will be used by a number of teams and riders throughout the 2012 entry list.

These include the highly-rated Tyco by TAS Suzuki and TT Legends teams, both of which have high-profile rider line ups.  The ebullient Guy Martin, who finished second last year in the Senior race, is joined at TAS Suzuki by Manxman Connor Cummins who recorded a sixth place finish in the second 2011 Supersport Isle of Man TT race on his return from injury.

The Honda TT Legends team needs little introduction; the name says it all.  Leading an incomparable rider line-up at the 2012 TT is 17-time winner, and a legend in his own right, John McGuinness.  One of the all-time giants of road racing, the ‘Morecombe Missile’ is expected to be the man to beat and he will be teamed with 2011 fastest TT newcomer, Simon Andrews, in the Motul-supported team.

Both these teams, together with Wilson Craig Racing, are Motul’s racing partners and they recently enjoyed excellent results in the Superbike category at the International North West 200 in Northern Ireland, an event won by McGuinness.  Amongst Wilson Craig’s riders was 2008 TT winner Cameron Donald who will be joined at the TT by William Dunlop, looking to improve on his three top six finishes.  Other names bearing the Motul colours and support will be Ian Mackman (Super stock - Kawasaki /Super sport – Kawasaki), Dave Hewson  (Superbike - Kawasaki / Supersport – Yamaha),  John Holden (Side car - Kawasaki) and Brandon Cretu (Superbike - Supersport - Superstock - Honda) who is currently the youngest American to ever compete at the Isle of Man TT.

As part of its partnership with the event, Motul will also be offering the “Motul Award for Technical Performance” and will be providing live coverage of the event through Motul Corporate Facebook page .  This will include interviews, progress reports and photographs from an on-site correspondent from 2nd to the 9th June inclusive.  A week of practice has just begun and the first race takes place on 2nd June.
