COOPER SECOND AT WODONGA MX
Rockstar Motul Suzuki’s Cody Cooper charged to a hard fought second place overall at the seventh round of the Australian National Motocross Championship, Wodonga, Victoria, on Sunday.
A stacked Pro Open field was greeted with a technical, well prepped track, and a smattering of afternoon rain made the competition even more intense.
Over the four moto format Cooper and his Suzuki RM-Z450 battled with Championship front runners Marmont, Coppins, Ferris and Mackenzie and the Suzuki pilot rose to the challenge.
Cooper holeshotted all four motos. A titanic struggle with Marmont in moto one and then Coppins in moto two saw him record a pair of second place finishes. In moto three Cooper led wire-to-wire to take the win while in moto four a crash while leading ruined what was otherwise a dominant display of racing.
Cooper’s 2-2-1-9 result was enough to claim second overall for the day and again show that he has the pace to beat the Championship front runners.
In the Pro Lites class Rockstar Motul Suzuki’s Daniel McCoy recorded a 7-5-3-6 finish for a fifth place overall. The result sees McCoy sit fourth in the Championship seven points off third place.

“It was a good day’s racing but we would like to have taken the win. Cody put up a real challenge to Marmont today. His starts were great and he clearly had the speed. But that crash in moto four changed the game and let Marmont get away. Cody rides well at Moree and Coolum so I am confident that he will run up front again.
“Dan was consistent again today. Our testing program is starting to show some good results, with Dan getting off the line much better. He is the most consistent rider out there and is still a solid chance of an overall podium.”
