Daigo Saito keeps his title!

03.12.2012

The last round of the Asian drift championship took place in Indonesia on a very damp track due to heavy rainfall. As it is organised by ESPN Asia, the championship is well covered on television and in the media and is a great popular success if we go by the crowd of spectators squeezed into the stands. Motul was a partner of the first two events in Singapore and in Indonesia, and supports two drivers of this discipline: Daigo Saito, one of the best known drift drivers in Asia and the United States, and Joshua Boettchler, a promising Australian driver. At the end of the Indonesian event, Saito won the title ahead of Tengku Djan, 2010 champion of the discipline, who also gave a good performance. In a supreme manner, Daigo successively took the lead over Bullzai, Saranon, and the rising European star, Fredric Aasbo, before coming face to face with  Djan, who he failed to pass. 'I in fact like rain', he commented at the end of the race.'I was very much at ease at the start but when I began to drive I realised the track was very slippery and that it wasn't going to be easy. I'm most relieved with the results and very pleased to have kept my title'. Saito has been crowned champion of the Achilles Asian Drift Series once again in 2012. Meanwhile, Joshua Boettchler finished in the championship top-10, after securing a very solid 5th place in Indonesia.
