A fine show as always!
After Serbia, Greece, Slovakia and Hungary, the European Drift Championship took place on 19 and 20 August in Spain at the Castelloli circuit for the fifth round of the season.
Located close to Barcelona, this circuit saw the King of Europe road-show arrive for the first time. A genuine challenge therefore awaited the contending drivers who, apart from discovering the track, had to face extremely high temperatures.
Among them, the 'customary' drivers were of course present. But there were also many others from Italy or France who wanted to discover this track where you can enter bends at more than 100km/h and where there are angles close to 50 degrees. A few drivers however did not turn up, such as Adam Kerenyi. Supported technically by Motul Hungary, the former European champion and present championship leader couldn't make the trip.
As for the results, as official lubricant supplier for the 2011 championship, Motul wishes to congratulate Andrea Sapino (1st), Alberto Cona (2nd) and Diego Quaranta (3rd) who all mounted the podium.
In the overall standings, despite the withdrawal of Adam Kerenyi and that of Sébastien Cornec following a mechanical glitch, team Dotz supported technically by Motul is still in the lead 10 points ahead of its closest rival.
Next round in Romania from 16 to 18 September.
