Fine second place for Martin Barr and Tyco Suzuki

12.07.2012

'Everyone appreciates the Desertmartin circuit', commented Adam Lyons, Tyco Suzuki team manager, before the fifth round of the British Motocross Championship on 24 June. 'I classify it among the world's best, without mentioning the marvellous Irish welcome you get there.' The team, supported technically by Motul, participated with three riders: in MX1, Stephen Sword, aka 'Swordy', showed his ability in MX2 by bagging the title several times before taking on this year MX1 category, with the Suzuki RM-Z450. Also in MX1, Martin Barr — the regional man of the round, this time — joined the team in May while, in MX2, Stuart Edmonds showed extremely promising talent on his RM-Z250.

At Desertmartin, Martin Barr won a brilliant second place at the end of the three races, despite a penalty which caused him to take the start of the first race in 29th position. But, after the race he said, 'I took a good start and got to second place at the end of the first lap (...) The team did a great job and the local public's support also helped me a lot!' For Stephen Sword, things didn't go as well. A fall relegated him to 11th place of the first race while, in the second, he was involved in a collision with another rider and, once on the ground, three riders couldn't avoid him and rode over him. Most fortunately his injuries were only superficial, but this incident put an end to his race. 'For me, it's a day to forget!' I'm lucky to get out of the accident without more serious injury.'

Last, in MX2, Stuart Edmonds clinched his best result of the season, with a fifth place at the end of the three races. 'For me the podium is now in sight and I'm going to fight for it in the next races.'

Motul supports 2 additional teams in the MX2 class: Rockstar Energy KTM – Bryan Mackenzie is 5th in the standings! – as well as Emberson RFX Yamaha – Steven Lenoir are Graeme Irwin are 3rd et 6th!

That will be on 29 July at Hawkstone Park, at the next round of this championship
