Demoustier and Amado clinch the first podium for ART Grand Prix

18.07.2012

On 15 July, the Magny-Cours circuit hosted the fourth round of the French GT Championship — the GT Tour. After having let the podium escape its reach on several occasions, ART Grand Prix managed to grab first step this time: Gregory Demoustier and Ulric Amado gave the McLaren MP4-12C its first success in France.  During the race, the drivers managed to take advantage of the weaknesses of their contenders and, after the regulatory stop,  Demoustier found himself in third position. The leader Eric Debard suffered a penalty and Demoustier's attack on Paul Lamic's Audi allowed him to take the lead. Whereas, behind, the battle was fierce between David Halliday, Fabien Barthez and Nicolas Tardiff, Demoustier continued to go it alone by keeping Lamic at a distance. After one hour of race he crossed the arrival line as winner: a big first for ART Grand Prix, supported technically by Motul, and hitherto above all renowned for its single-seater performances. For Demoustier, 'We were a bit disappointed yesterday, but we're really pleased today. We've gained reliability.' Same satisfaction on the part of his team-mate Ulric Amado: 'I hope this win announces a superb second part of the season!

In the Mitjet Series, one of the championship support races for which Motul has been a partner for a long time, the weekend attraction was none other than ... Sébastien Loeb! At the wheel of a Mitjet 2 Liters bearing Motul's colours, the World Champion added a victory to his lengthy list of achievements by winning the Saturday race.
On 8 and 9 September, cars and drivers will battle it out on the Navarra circuit, Spain.
