Conquest Endurance collects the fruits of its efforts

26.07.2012

At the fifth round of the American Le Mans Series (ALMS), at the Canadian Mosport circuit on 22 July, suspense did not come from the LMP1s, where Klaus Graf and Lucas Luhr's HPD-ARX-03b took the win without any real battle. Things were entirely different in  LMP2 where the Morgan-Nissan of Conquest Endurance, supported technically by Motul, finally had the last word. Driven by Martin Plowman and David Heinemeier Hansson, it fought for the first place of its category with Scott Tucker and Christophe Bouchut's HPD ARX-03b, occasionally even taking the lead of the race ahead of the LMP1s. Martin Plowman, who was at the wheel for the last relay of this 2h45 race, acknowledges he really had to roll his sleeves up to take the win: 'When I realised that Bouchut was battling forward, I really had to push while trying to economise my tyres.' In his precipitation, Bouchut made a mistake which cost him a penalty, allowing Plowman to finish the race more relaxed! This win finally crowns the efforts made by the entire team since the beginning of the season.

The next round will take place on 2-5 August at the Mid-Ohio circuit.

Europe will also meet America at the end of the season: the two Le Mans series (ALMS and European Le Mans Series) will indeed be held together at the Petit Le Mans circuit on 17-20 October for a great joint final. For the ELMS, this round will count double to compensate for the cancellation of the last two events of the championship, Brno and Algarve. A fine show in view!
