Last year, team Nissan Nismo Motul Autech wasn't far off getting the title, with three wins in eight races thanks to Benoît Tréluyer and Satoshi Motoyama. For 2012, Benoît Tréluyer will be contending in the World Endurance Championship, in the official Audi team, following his win in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. He is therefore replaced in the team by Michael Krumm, a major figure also since he was crowned GT1 World Champion last year at the wheel of a Nissan GT-R. Despite two years of absence in 2010 and 2011, he is a regular at the Super GT Championship where he has missed very few seasons since 1997.
Still in GT500, team Mola has, for its part, decided to leave things unchanged. In effect, in its pursuit of a second consecutive title, the winning team in 2011 will keep the same 'package', in other words a Nissan GT-R entrusted to the duo Ronnie Quintarelli / Mastaka Yanagida.
