Race of Champions - Germany - Düsseldorf

15.12.2011

World Touring Racecars and F1 drivers put on a show!

After a 2010 edition crowned with success, the traditional Race of Champions took place again on 3 and 4 December in the crowded Düsseldorf arena in Germany.

For the occasion, the best drivers of all categories made the trip to try and win, but also and above all, to put on a show. On the 600 metre particularly narrow and winding circuit, the drivers engaged in duels to be remembered, at the wheel of most powerful and varied racing cars. Among the selected vehicles, the public could admire  VW Siroccos, Audi R8 LMS and also Skoda S2000s. But the star attraction was of course the World Touring Racecar race (racecars of the Nascar type – 450-hp V8s), of which the cars were developed by Team FJ with Motul's technical support. A race with a high presence of F1 drivers, since, among others, Michael Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel, Jenson Button, David Coulthard, Vitaly Petrov and also Romain Grosjean, battled it out at their steering wheels. Disconcerted at first sight by these 5 m long by 2 m wide monsters, these racers were all pleasantly surprised by the agility of the World Touring Racecars.

As for the results, the Schumacher-Vettel duo once again did Germany's colours proud by winning the Nations Cup. For his first participation, Frenchman Sébastien Ogier, for his part, really impressed the public present by winning the event.
