Jared Mees crowned with three races still to go

07.09.2018

After the way Jared Mees dominated the 2017 championship, it was said that such a performance could not be repeated, even by the man himself. In Springfield, however, he proved everybody wrong about that.

Although fellow team Indian rider Bryan Smith took home the AFT Twins victory and the Springfield Mile II, it was Mees, narrowly losing out to Smith by just a few inches, who took home the championship with three races to go.

Mees’s domination has been incredible and even more so given that he has won the championship with three races to spare and even suffered a disqualification at the Atlanta race after his rear tyre was ruled non-compliant.

This means that Mees now has no fewer than five titles to his name. He has already won ten races this year (making a total of 40 victories), and now means to wrap up the rest of the season by winning the three remaining events - thus proving himself a truly worthy champion.

When asked about his plans for the next championship, Mees indicated that his contract with Indian runs into 2019 and that he will continue racing until he is no longer physically able to win races.
