French Ice Championship - France - Super-Besse

02.02.2012

Dayraut podiums in the overall standings

Despite 25 tons of snow spread out over the Super-Besse track in the Puy-de-Dôme department, temperatures that were too mild soon melted the ice at the Andros Trophy final that took place on 28 and 29 January on a drenched track. Despite closely fought races, the standings at the end of the previous event, in Saint-Dié-des-Vosges, were not challenged. Indeed, after dominating the qualifyings, Alain Prost won a final somewhat disrupted by a collision, which allowed him to clinch his third Andros Trophy title.

Jean-Philippe Dayraut, for whom Motul is a technical partner through team Saintéloc, remained threatening throughout the season at the wheel of his Mini Countryman. In the overall standings he bagged a fine third place just a tiny point behind Benjamin Rivière, the surprise of this season whose regularity disturbed the leaders. Particularly closely fought, this Andros Trophy was full of intense suspense right to the end, with a number of winners never seen at any previous edition.

At the Andros Electric Trophy, the positions were confirmed with respect to the previous event, allowing Christophe Ferrier to be crowned Champion. He indeed managed to resist Adrien Tambay who, in the final, was swept away by his enthusiasm and crashed into the wall.

We'll be back reporting in eleven months for the next edition of this winter trophy!
