British Superbike - UK - Brands Hatch

21.10.2011

Alastair Seeley clinches the Supersport title

The twelfth and last round of British Superbike took place at Brands Hatch from 7 to 9 October. In the Supersport category, Alastair Seeley was quite simply fantastic.
Second in the overall standings lagging 11 points behind his closest rival for the title, Ben Wilson (Gearlink Kawasaki), Alastair reduced the gap to 4 points on the Saturday during race 1 after having climbed the second step of the podium.
However, in race 2, on Sunday (24th and last race of the season), everything still remained to be done! Neck to neck throughout the race, Ben Wilson and Alastair Seeley fought it out as only they can! In the end, for 2.3 seconds, the Suzuki rider won the race ahead of  Ben Wilson's Kawasaki. In addition to securing the new lap record  (Supersport category) on his GSX-R600, with just a tiny additional  point in the overall standings, Alastair Seeley thus became the new 2011 Supersport champion!
Meanwhile, in the Superbike category, Josh Brookes finished his 2011 season in fifth place.
Warm congratulations to all Philip Neil's team for these superb results.
