As a long standing partner of the FFSA GT French championship, Motul logically supported the initiative of SRO Motorsports which worked on a complete overhaul of the series around GT4 regulations at the beginning of 2017.

As a result, more than 30 cars on average, splendid meets and excellent sportsmanship…and to top it all, the last meet was highly suspenseful. The favourites, both Motul technical partners finally shared the laurels. Team CD Sport made of up Gilles Vannelet and Mike Parisy bagged the  Drivers crown while Speed Car clinched the teams title!

  • Mike Parisy, Porsche Cayman Clubsport MR GT4 Sport CD # 30:  "  We arrived on the Circuit Paul Ricard with a real desire to win this title and it's done. We delivered a solid season. Even if we started from a blank page, we knew how to optimize our performance and speed during the races, thanks in particular to our experience. I would like to salute the superb work of the entire CD Sport team, while warmly thanking my team-mate Gilles  [Vannelet]  with whom I am very happy to share this title.  "

  • Gilles Vannelet, Porsche Cayman Clubsport MR GT4 Sport CD # 30:  "  Everyone knows the links that bind us Mike [Parisy]  and me for years. And to say that 10 years ago, we would run against each other! I am delighted that CD Sport and him came to get me for this season in the French FFSA GT Championship, and even more happy to celebrate this title together. A big thank you to the whole team!  "

Best-Case Scenario

The drivers of the Ginetta Speed Car #8, Benjamin Lariche and Robert Consani, had a two points lead when contending on the 5.8 km Paul Richard circuit. In the last lap of race1, Mike Parisy intimated Benjamin Lariche in the braking zone and the latter went straight ahead in the chicane located in the very middle of the Mistral Straight. Reclassified 4th just ahead of their direct contenders, the Porsche CD Sport duo therefore came level scorewise.

On Sunday, team Speed Car was not spared. Having qualified quite mediocrely, #8 suffered a collision in lap one. At the CD Sport, they had to fight against an equally penalising lack of power. Had neither of the two contenders scored points, the title would have been bagged by the Speed Car drivers thanks to their win in Dijon. Finally Gilles Vannelet managed to reach the arrival 5th placed, four ranks ahead of Robert Consani who’d pushed forward remarkably!
