Honda unveils its brand new weapon for the WTCC

02.10.2012

Honda has developed a brand new racing engine HR412E in order to enter the FIA WTCC, the World Touring Car Championship. As a technical partner, Motul has made a contribution to the development of this 1.6litre turbo-charged direct injection engine at Honda’s Automobile R&D in Tochigi, Japan.

The HR412E is Honda’s first direct injection turbo engine that boasts more than 320hp. Lubrication is a key element to manage the severe thermal conditions of the engine and the turbo, where Motul’s product plays a significant role.
Honda will start its participation in the WTCC from the last three events of the 2012 season: Suzuka on 19-21 October, Shanghai on 2-4 November and Macao on 15-18 November.

The car will be driven by the Portuguese ex-F1 driver Tiago Monteiro this year. In 2013 Honda will enter the full season with 2 cars driven by Tiago and the Italian 2009 Champion, Gabriele Tarquini.

Recently unveiled at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, the racing car is a  Civic WTCC proudly displaying Motul's logo to represent the Motul-Honda collaboration and their shared enthusiasm for racing.
