APR Motorsport finishes the season on the podium!

05.10.2012

Team APR Motorsport, supported technically by Motul, finished the season magnificently! At the last round of the Rolex Grand-Am series, which took place on 30 September at the Lime Rock circuit, the team's Audi R8 indeed came 2nd of the GTs, in the hands of Jim Norman and Dion von Moltke. It was their best result of the year and allowed Jim Norman to finish the year 1st in the Rookie of the Year standings. In the first part of the race, Norman managed to get ahead of several contenders and was in 10th place when he passed the steering wheel to von Moltke. The latter, in the heart of the battle, span out and collided with two other cars, but the Audi started off again with renewed vigour. Then, an intelligent refuelling strategy allowed the Audi to leave behind a Ferrari 458 and the leading Porsche. 'To say this year has been a challenge would be an understatement,' said Stephen Hooks, President of APR Motorsport. 'It took every member of our team to work through the night to get the car to the finish at Daytona and it seemed like we never stopped working throughout the year. (...) Finishing second here is just unbelievable, I never thought we could. Congratulations to all the team!'

Motul was also the technical partner for Turner Motorsport which experienced an awkward weekend, with in particular a collision  of one its two BMWs. Despite that, the team finished third in the GT Championship, a brilliant performance opposite very competitive teams.
