After a somewhat disappointing 2010 season in Rally America, the Subaru Rally Team USA, of which Motul is a technical partner, has good reasons to believe 2011 will be a very exciting year!
In effect, in addition to confirming its competitiveness in other sports – the team is scheduled to take part again in hill-climbing races and Rallycross – drivers Dave Mirra and Mark Higgins confirmed last weekend that they now have the same qualities to rocket along in the Impreza WRX STIs as great champion Travis Pastrana, quadruple champion with the Subaru Rally Team USA and now a Nascar driver.
At the Sno Drift Rally, the first round of the season that took place 10 days ago on the snowy roads of Michigan and which is known for its difficulty (studded tyres are not allowed), the two riders did well: Mark Higgings by easily occupying the leading group during the first day (before abandoning because of a technical problem) and Dave Mirra by brilliantly advancing from 5th to 2nd place after losing a lot of time after a puncture!
Note should also be made of the promising second place clinched by Duplessis-Woods in the two-wheel drive category at the wheel of their official Scion xD. Indeed, whereas it was hitherto rather 'circuit' oriented, the competition department of this Japanese brand – Scion is a Toyota brand – is scheduled to participate in the entire Rally America season!
Subaru USA starts a new era brilliantly!
