YUSUF ATTIA IS THE FIRST MOTUL SUPERFAN OF 2019!

The MotoGP season has shifted into top gear again. Last weekend the season opened with a thrilling race at Qatar’s Losail circuit. And a new MotoGP race means a new Motul Superfan. Yusuf Attia is our first Motul Superfan of 2019 and we asked him to share his experiences with us.

Of course, I’m Yusuf Attia. I’m originally from India but I’ve been living in Qatar for more than eighteen years. I work for a petroleum company here in Qatar and obviously I’m a big motorsports fan.

A big motorsports fan – so this can’t have been your first MotoGP race then?

No, not at all. In fact, I’ve attended every MotoGP race held in Qatar since the Losail circuit was built. My wife also works at the Losail circuit as a volunteer, and I’ve been involved with it in the past as well.

What was the Motul Superfan experience like for you?

It was an incredible experience. I want to thank Motul from the bottom of my heart. I’ve been to the Grand Prix so many times but I’ve never had so much access. It was amazing to meet all the stars like Marc Marquez and Valentino. And being in the pit lane and attending the grid walk – that was a real honour for me.

Oh the safety car ride, for sure. I’ve driven cars on a race track before but this was nothing like I’ve ever experienced before. The driver was amazing. Sliding the car around, it was so much fun.

You’re the first Motul Superfan of the year, so we need to ask you: what are your predictions for 2019?

That’s hard to say. I don’t think it’s going to be an easy year for Marc Marquez. Last year Andrea Dovizioso was really close and I have a feeling that this year Dovi will edge even closer. I’m sure it will be an amazing season.

Rossi, without a doubt. He might not be winning championships anymore but he’s still an icon in the sport and everyone loves him. I’ve been lucky enough to see him in the paddock a few times, but he was always surrounded and followed by a crowd of fans.

What made you want to be a Motul Superfan?

I’ve been following MotoGP for so many years and I’d noticed the Superfan competition, so this year I decided to participate. Motul brings a real value to the sport and means so much to MotoGP, so to play a small part in that and to be an ambassador for the brand in some form is an amazing experience.
