MOTUL REVS UP SUPPORT IN THE WORLDSBK WITH OFFICIAL YAMAHA TEAM

The FIM Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK), with which Motul is the Title Sponsor and Official Lubricant Partner, has long been recognised as the perfect showcase for manufacturers to demonstrate the best production bikes available on the market.

Since 2016 Motul has had a massive presence in the exciting international championship, thrilling thousands of Motul guests at circuits around the world. This presence is now looking to be even bigger in 2019 with the welcome addition to its roster of supported teams of the prestigious Official Yamaha WorldSBK team.

Yamaha and Motul: a long and valued partnership

While the factory partnership with Yamaha is new in WorldSBK, Motul’s relationship with the Japanese manufacturer stretches way back to 1977.

In fact, the valued partnership with Yamaha began in the best way possible with Takazumi Katayama claiming the 350cc World Championship title on a Yamaha, the first Japanese rider ever to do so in motorcycle road racing. Since then, Motul has worked closely with Yamaha to offer full technical support to the MotoGP factory Yamaha Team and now the official WorldSBK factory team with the standout 300V Factory Line racing lubricant based on Ester® Core technology.

The winning partnership

Competing on the Yamaha YZF R1 for the Pata Yamaha WorldSBK team will be Briton Alex Lowes and Dutch rider Michael van der Mark who finished 3rd in 2018.  The pairing successfully claimed victories and multiple podiums last year and together as a team and with the support of Motul, also an historic 4th consecutive win for Yamaha in the Suzuka 8 Hours.

A premium collaboration

Andrea Dosoli – Yamaha Road Racing Manager: “Motul and Yamaha have a long and distinguished history together in racing and have enjoyed an extremely successful partnership more recently, with four back-to-back victories in the prestigious Suzuka Eight Hour Race. We are very proud that Motul has now extended this partnership with Yamaha to the FIM Superbike World Championship, as we welcome them as the Official Lubricant Partner of the Pata Yamaha WorldSBK Team.”

Paul Denning, Pata Yamaha WorldSBK Team Principal: “It is with great pride we are able to welcome Motul as the Official Lubricant Partner for the Pata Yamaha WorldSBK Team. Motul and Yamaha have a long history together in all forms of racing and we are pleased to be taking the next steps forward as partners once again.

Motul will be a powerful tool in helping the team and Yamaha to challenge for more victories in the WorldSBK Championship by increasing R1’s performances and durability.

We trust in Motul’s commitment to technology, to development and to the motorcycle enthusiast’s requirements – we are very happy to be working together!”

Arnaud Laire, Vice President Motul: “For Motul this new partnership represents the continuity of a long and successful relationship with Yamaha. But, of course, there’s more to it than that. Motul has always worked together with, and been trusted by, its partner manufacturers and teams in the search for increased performance, better reliability and excellence. None more so than Yamaha over many decades. The commitment to never stop innovating, to be passionate and involved at every level is based on an open sharing of technology and common goals, and it is a philosophy which is shared from ground level up.”
