07.09.2012

The Rettungsstation Zermatt in Switzerland is one of the two rescue stations in the world along with Chamonix station in France to operate throughout the year.

ARF, Zermatt has acquired a unique Know-How thanks to its peculiarity; the foundation conducts interventions under extreme conditions at the heart of the most remote regions of the world lacking rescue teams. Following to several missions conducted in Nepal in 2010 it became clear that the Nepalese specialists needed vocational training in mountain rescue.

The Alpine Rescue Fondation, Zermatt (ARF, Zermatt) was launched January 2011 and aims to set up an independent and operational rescue team in Nepal. As a unique center of competence, it is comprised of internationally renowned piloting, terrestrial rescue and urgent care medicine specialists. 12 Sherpa, one technician and 2 Nepalese pilots will thus benefit from a state-of-the-art 3-year training that will bring to life an autonomous and effective rescue team.

Knowledge sharing, self-transcendence and solidarity across borders are important values to the Group Motul that is supporting the ARF, Zermatt actions and is now an official partner of the Foundation.
