Hexis Racing claws back its place on top of the podium!

From the end of the qualifying race, on Saturday, the mood at Hexis Racing became resolutely upbeat as the two McLarens clinched the  first two places. At this third round of the FIA GT1 Championship, on 26 and 27 May on the Navarra circuit in Spain, the challenge was a big one for the French team supported by Motul and for McLaren, with the need to erase the somewhat lacklustre results of the beginning of the season. But Saturday's performance was not  due to pure luck and the 2011 title holder confirmed this success the following day, Stef Dusseldorp and Fred Makowiecki clinching a clear victory after leading the race from start to finish.

The other McLaren driven by Greg Dumoustier and Alvaro Parente failed to get second place because of an engine starting difficulty after the pit stop but it then kept high pressure on the two Mercedes in front. A result which made team manager, Philippe Dumas, say: 'We live in a cruel world where it is sometimes said that in sport only the result counts. I'm very proud of having secured a first international win with the MP4-12C. Everyone did his job, including the people at  McLaren GT, even if we saw that a few little things could be improved.'
With these results, Hexis Racing has climbed spectacularly in the championship standings.

For Stef Dusseldorp, 'This win is not only Fred's and mine; everyone has done their utmost to clinch it. We weren't expected on the top step so early in the season. The tests performed here this winter were difficult. In March, we were very far off our contenders. So we can measure the progress achieved.'
In any case it's a result to be savoured, for Hexis Racing, before the next event scheduled for 9 and 10 June in Slovakia.
