Legend lives on at 25th edition

The Tour Auto was held 45 times between 1899 and 1986. The disappearance of the original event must have rapidly created a sense of a lack because, in 1992, Patrick Peter launched the historic version. The Tour Auto by Peter Auto will therefore be celebrating from 18 to 24 April 2016 its 25th edition. Motul, genuinely passionate about beautiful historic cars, is a faithful partner of the event.

The eligibility period for cars, whose model must have participated in the Tour de France Automobile, is from 1951 to 1973. They all create emotion in the eyes of the beholders with their shapes, performances and past feats they embody.

It's now a tradition, the 230 cars awaited will first be displayed in Paris at the Grand Palais before they start the route comprising 11 specials on closed roads and circuit events at Dijon-Prenois, Bresse, Lédenon and Paul Ricard. New for 2016 is a night drive organised in the Riviera hinterland just before the arrival in Cannes on the Croisette.

Over 100,000 spectators line the Tour Auto route every year. Once again they'll admire cars that have made it legendary: the Ligier JS2 won in 1974 and the Matra 650 in 1970 and 1971; the Ferrari 250 GT was the GT queen from the end of the 1950s to the start of the 1960s, while the Jaguar 3.8 litres MKII dominated the Touring category of the day… Roll on spring!
