MOTUL AND THE MOUNTAIN: THE LURE OF THE ISLE OF MAN TT

31.05.2017

Mad, crazy, brave, daring, incredible, exciting…!  Whether you agree with any, or all of them, these are just a few of the words used to describe the fearless and skilful men and women who take part in the legendary Isle of Man TT event.

As Official Lubricant Partner for the 8th consecutive year, Motul will be present for the whole meeting between 27th May to 9th June, including qualifying.  The lubricant specialist is also a major partner with Mugen and its new Shinden Roku in the TT Zero race for electric superbikes.

Ups and downs, bends and curves

Taking place on the independently-governed island located between North West England and Northern Ireland, the 37.75 mile (60km) Snaefell Mountain road course is challenging and rewarding for those who get it right, and cruel and unforgiving for those who don’t.  A long series of bends, bumps, jumps, stone walls, manhole covers and telegraph poles are just some of the hazards to be negotiated and conquered!

One of the great motorsport events in the world, steeped in history and tradition, every fan has a visit on his or her bucket list and the Isle of Man TT welcomes hundreds of thousands of spectators from all around the globe.

Legends, legs and leading lights…

Motul will once again be supporting several leading teams who will all carry the company’s iconic red and white colors and use the Motul Factory Line range of products.  Crucial among the products will be the 100% synthetic 300V engine oil and RBF 660 Brake Fluid, both of which are key elements to mechanical reliability and performance and, ultimately, triumph in the TT’s races.

The teams include the super-successful factory Honda Road Racing team which is the usual home to living TT legend, John McGuinness and TT/TV star Guy Martin.  The “Morecombe Missile” unfortunately broke his leg and sustained other injuries at the North West 200 race in mid-May and is unable to add to his 23 TT race wins in 2017.  His replacement has not yet been named by the team, but alongside whoever it is will be larger than life TT rider and popular British TV presenter Guy Martin who has stepped on the podium 15 times but is still chasing his first elusive win.

With Bennetts Suzuki/MD Racing will be 13-time TT winner Michael Dunlop who will definitely be aiming to defend his victory in the Senior Race in 2016, and Motul will also be supporting Birchall Racing – the British team having already had a very successful start to the season - in the Side Car category.

All eyes are now on the Isle of Man for the coming weeks, and again in August when Motul returns to the island as Official Lubricant Partner to the Classic TT.
