Motul a partner of World Time Attack Challenge and highly anticipated R35 GT-R class !

The premier world time attack event in the world returned to Sydney Motorsport Park, and Motul further increased its visibility this year with an exclusive partnership with the all-new, one-make GT-R class.

For Motul, this partnership enhances the brand’s positioning in motorsports across various levels. One of Motul’s biggest technical partnerships is with NISMO, the motorsports and performance division of Nissan Motor Company. This partnership stretches across the globe, from one-off Super GT GT500 prototypes, GT1 and GT3 machines racing out of Europe, NISMO-prepped 370Z in America, to a co-branded NISMO Competition Oil by Motul that is favoured by the most hardcore NISMO enthusiasts. With this strong association with the Japanese manufacturer, being the partner of the R35 GT-R class comes naturally and reaffirms Motul’s standing as the preferred choice for performance-bred Nissan vehicles.

A prominent Motul stand opposite Mazda’s, which drew a large crowd due to the display of the iconic Mazda 767B, displayed a wide range of both racing and daily use automotive products. With a large bulk of the crowd made up by enthusiasts, there were numerous enquiries on application and products specifications coming from the well-informed Australians. Also on display were five cars – two drag-prepped Nissans from Jett Racing, one of which holds the world record for the fastest four-cylinder engine in the world; two Targa GT-Rs with one having the only set of carbon wheels in Australia; and last but not least, a KTM X-Bow from Holinger, a technical partner of Motul and an Australian manufacturer of highly sought-after motorsports gearboxes.

On the race track, all eyes were on two GT-Rs hailing from top teams in Japan – HKS and Top Secret. Both cars were developed specially to dominate the competition, and close racing was always on the cards even during the build-up to the weekend’s activities. Eventually it was HKS who took home the Pro Class with a very respectable time of 1:30.8380. While in the R35 GT-R Tuner Class, Just Car Insurance, supported technically by Motul, claimed top honours with a lap time of 1:40.3560.
